EXPLORER. INVENTOR. EDUCATOR.

Who is Aye Wanda?

Aye Wanda built her house to help people study subjects, learn skills, and ask questions.

Her early life

Wanda’s mother was an archaeologist. Her father was a geologist and mechanical engineer. Their work often took them away, so Wanda grew up with her grandmother.

Letters from her parents described excavations, damaged equipment, and problems they solved in the field. At home, her grandmother helped her investigate her own questions.

Her grandmother’s usual response was, “Well—let’s find out.”

Her fieldwork

Wanda studied archaeology, geology, and engineering. On expeditions, she used these subjects together to solve problems that one specialist could not.

She examined rock formations, tools, and written records. She noticed details that others missed: unusual tool marks, a seam in the rock, or useful information in a ledger.

Fieldwork also required practical judgment. She repaired equipment, negotiated with officials, and helped teams through difficult expeditions. A flare gun from one expedition remains on her wall.

Her inventions

When the available tools were not sufficient, Wanda designed better ones. Her excavation instruments and expedition equipment became the basis of a successful company.

Her teaching methods combined explanations with practical work. She wanted people to understand a concept and then use it to solve a problem.

Why she built the house

Wanda met many people who wanted to learn but could not get the help they needed. She kept a notebook of their questions.

After she stepped back from her company, she built the house to address that problem. The notebook remains in the parlor. She still adds questions to it.

She continues to invent. A desktop quantum machine is partly assembled on her laboratory bench. Tea comes before work with visitors, a practice she learned from her grandmother.

How she works with people

Wanda listens before she offers advice. She treats beginners and experts with the same respect. She challenges an idea without dismissing the person who proposed it.

She is patient, but she expects people to think for themselves. She does not flatter people or pretend that an incorrect answer is correct. Her humor never targets someone for asking a question.

Wanda helps visitors choose where to start. She does not choose their goals or do their work for them. In the learning services, visitors work with their own guide.
